With so many learn guitar products available today on the internet, it’s difficult to
know which ones are really worth spending money on, and which ones are a complete waste of time. Here we take
a look at Guitar Tutor Pro, by Ryan Cameron, and see if it’s really as good as it claims to be.
Guitar Tutor Pro is a downloadable guitar course covering all aspects of guitar
playing, including rhythm, lead, chords and scales, as well as theory and notation skills. It comes in the
form of several ebooks in PDF format, with accompanying audio, as well as some software tools to aid the
learning process.

The main part of the course is divided into three volumes, totalling over 300 pages,
with over 400 audio examples to listen to. There is also a fourth ebook on reading notation, taking you
through the basics of reading music, including guitar tab. It comes with a metronome to help you stay in
time, a guitar tuner so you’re never out of tune, and a handy chord database program so you can find any
chord you’re looking for.
The download process is very straight forward, and doesn’t take long with a broadband
connection. Once downloaded you simply open the volume you want to work from, and follow along, loading the
corresponding audio file as appropriate. The course itself is well structured, starting off easy, and getting
progressively more difficult as you work your way through it.
Although it is not the most comprehensive guitar learning course available, it covers
most aspects of playing. You’ll learn a variety of techniques such as string bending, vibrato, hammer-ons and
pull-offs, as well as numerous chords and scales that will enable you to play a wide variety of musical
styles. The course also teaches a lot of music theory, which is very important if you want to become an
all-round, versatile musician.
All in all, this is a good course, teaching a broad spectrum of guitar skills, and at
a very reasonable price. The audio examples really add to the lessons although, unlike many of its rivals, it
doesn’t include any video, which is a shame. It’s definitely worth looking at, but I think there are better
courses available. We recomend Jamorama.
